About Pacific

Pacific is a National Blue Ribbon School, but what does that mean?  Of all the California schools awarded the “California Distinguished School” recognition in 1996, only 46 of those schools were selected as a National Blue Ribbon School.  National Blue Ribbon Schools comprise the top 2% of the nation’s schools.  Pacific School, Manhattan Beach Middle School and Mira Costa High School have received that recognition.  MBUSD is one of the top five districts in the state of California.  Pacific has a statewide ranking of 10 out of 10.

On the 2006 California Standards Test, Pacific’s API (Academic Performance Index) score of 971 was the highest in all of the South Bay districts, and also surpassed historically high-ranking districts such as Palos Verdes, San Marino, La Canada, Newport Beach, and Irvine Unified. (More details can be found on the website www.cde.ca.gov).

Why is Pacific a Blue Ribbon School?

  • Excellent teachers, every single one!
  • Peer Coaching and “Just Visiting” – where teachers watch each other teach and learn from each other.
  • MBUSD, a district that supports teachers and truly makes children the number one priority.
  • Parents who give their time and resources for everyone’s children.
  • Children who work hard and love to learn.
