Pacific School Teacher of the Year and MBUSD Teacher of the Year– Linda Okumura

Pacific School is proud to announce that Mrs. Linda Okumura, first grade teacher, was named one of Los Angeles County's top sixteen Teachers of the Year. Her colleagues at Pacific selected her as our representative due to her inspired, focused teaching, as well as her solid leadership skills. During her tenure at Pacific, Mrs. Okumura has made a significant impact within her grade level and across our campus.

It is a privilege to spend time in Mrs. Okumura’s classroom. The moment you step into her 1st grade classroom you will quickly observe that her students are excited and invested in their learning and that they are truly involved in the learning process. At the heart of any caring school are the relationships that a teacher builds with students. An exceptional teacher, such as Mrs. Okumura consistently and enthusiastically builds relationships by listening to, talking with, and discovering what motivates each and every one of her students.

Mrs. Okumura also develops wonderful partnerships with the parents’ of her students. She recognizes that families are the primary educators of all children and they are a critical component of a formal education. Every year, each family cherishes their home visits with “Mrs. O”!

Upon hearing Mrs. Okumura’s selection as Pacific’s Teacher of the Year, one of her student’s commented that she wasn’t surprised because “everyone knows that Mrs. Okumura is the BEST teacher in the whole, wide world”.
