Pacific School’s program is built upon the Six Pillars of Character framework for teaching good character and is composed of six ethical values:
The mnemonic acronym of T.R.R.F.C.C helps to remember each pillar.
Each of the six character traits are used within our Character Counts program to help install a positive learning environment for students and a “culture of kindness” making a safe and encouraging environment for children to learn.
The character program at Pacific School is positive and proactive. The entire teaching staff: teachers, teaching assistants, cafeteria/ playground supervisors, office staff and volunteers, praise and reward appropriate behavior. Everyone tries to “Catch students being GOOD!”
Our “AOKs” or Acts of Kindness are a way to recognize and reward students who are demonstrating behavior consistent with our Character Counts program. All children can practice AOKs as part of their normal routine during their school day and at home. To establish an effective behavioral program, it is essential that students understand what behavior is expected of them. The most effective impact occurs when the home and the school work together.
