MBUSD has been honored as a Gold Medalist in the California Green Ribbon District competition and as a US Department of Education National Green Ribbon District.
To maintain our high standard of environmental stewardship, our Green Committee collaborates with parents, students, and faculty to implement the following Green Initiatives at each of our schools:
- Walk or wheel to school days
- No vehicle idling zones
- School gardens
- Meatless Mondays (see lunch order options)
- Lunchtime waste sorting
- Event and party eco-audits
- Single-use plastics reduction
- Classroom recycling
- Earth Week
- Green grounds maintenance
- Litter reduction
- Environmental education
- Recyclables collection (e.g., batteries, plastics, markers)
Currently, we are forming our 2023-2024 Pacific Green Team (4th and 5th graders) and we’ve kicked off a battery collection program. Save the date for National Walk and Roll to school day on October 4, 2023!
